Do you want to know what’s in the air you breathe or the soil beneath your feet in and around Krakow? A new research initiative is about to be launched! A new partnership with the Krakow Metropolis Association will give us a complete picture of the region’s environmental health.
This practical project aims to make real changes in the region based on long-term cooperation with the Krakow Metropolis Association. The research team will use remote sensing technology to analyze everything from air quality to water conditions in selected municipalities. They’ll measure trace gases and dust levels and examine soil and snow samples to understand pollution patterns.
The project will also use CitizenScience data! Local residents’ sensor measurements will be incorporated into research to assess environmental problems and develop further strategies.
What makes this project special is its comprehensive approach. It involves collecting data, building a detailed database, and creating models to track how pollutants move through our region. This information will help develop targeted solutions for improving environmental quality across the Krakow Metropolis area.
The ultimate goal? To create a roadmap for a greener, cleaner Krakow region, with specific focus on:
- Improving air quality
- Developing blue-green infrastructure
- Enhancing water retention
- Promoting circular economy practices
