Seminar Highlights: MAN-MIND-ENVIRONMENT HUB Project’s Second Scientific Gathering 

On December 6, 2024, the Human-Environmental Systems Research Centre hosted the Second Seminar of the flagship project MAN-MIND-ENVIRONMENT HUB. The event brought together leading experts to discuss sustainable development, environmental monitoring, and scientific research.

Key highlights included: 

  • A presentation by Prof. Maciej Zalewski on transdisciplinary ecohydrology for biosphere restoration 
  • A panel discussion on environmental quality monitoring featuring experts from meteorological institutes, environmental protection agencies, and academic institutions 
  • Presentations covering innovative research in air quality, solar energy conversion, and environmental analysis techniques 

The seminar featured insights from researchers across various disciplines, showcasing the university’s commitment to interdisciplinary approaches to environmental challenges. Presentations ranged from practical educational initiatives to advanced scientific methodologies in environmental monitoring and research. 

Experts explored critical topics, including soil research, air pollution impacts, and the complex relationships between human societies and their environments. 

This event underscores the Jagiellonian University’s ongoing dedication to addressing environmental issues through collaborative, innovative scientific approaches – a signature of the MAN-MIND-ENVIRONMENT HUB project.

Man-Mind-Environment Hub is a project implemented within the Priority Research Area (POB) Anthropocene by four Jagiellonian University units: the Department of Geography and Geology, the Department of Chemistry, the Department of Philosophy, and the Department of Management and Social Communication.
