Centre of Excellence Talk with Dr. He Yin: Cropland Abandonment as a Nature-Based Solution

We are excited to invite you to our upcoming Centre of Excellence Talk featuring Dr. He Yin, a leading expert in land system dynamics from Kent State University, USA. Dr. Yin will present his research on “Cropland Abandonment: A Nature-Based Solution to Address Global Challenges” – a topic that lies at the critical intersection of…

As coordinator of the Global Land Programme Working Group on “Agricultural Land Abandonment as a Global Land-Use Change Phenomenon,” Dr. Yin brings unparalleled expertise to this discussion. His research employs remote sensing techniques to understand how abandoned croplands might serve as nature-based solutions to pressing environmental challenges.

Dr. Yin heads the Remote Sensing and Land Science Lab (SensLand Lab) at Kent State University and has previously worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a senior researcher at the Center for Development Research (ZEF) at the University of Bonn. With over 50 peer-reviewed publications and research funding from prestigious organizations including NASA and the Center for International Forestry Research, his work represents the forefront of land system science.
