The Human-Environmental Systems Research Centre at the Faculty of Geography and Geology, Jagiellonian University, invites researchers, students, and practitioners to attend an upcoming hybrid seminar focused on socio-ecological conflicts in Poland.
The event, “Various Approaches to Socio-Ecological Conflicts: Case Studies from Poland,” will take place on Thursday, April 3, 2025, from 9:15 AM to 12:00 PM in room 1.21 at the Institute of Geography and Spatial Management.
This seminar is organized as part of the Una Europa Seed Funding project “Contested Rural Transitions: Embracing Conflicts through Participatory Research (CRAFT)” and features presentations from leading researchers exploring diverse dimensions of environmental conflicts across Poland.
The agenda includes presentations on:
- Systemizing conflict analysis theory and methodology
- Socio-ecological transitions on university campuses
- Competing visions for urban green spaces
- Visitor management in protected areas
- Hydrological conflicts in suburban Kraków
- Forest succession and ecosystem services in the Gorce Mountains
- Human-wildlife interactions in the Polish Carpathians
- Land use planning conflicts in and around protected areas
The seminar will be held in English and is accessible both in-person and online via Microsoft Teams.
